| My approach combines rigorous professional training with an artist's sensibility. I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Landscape Architecture and a degree in Fine Art, and continue to draw inspiration from the arts as well as from the natural world. A typical finished garden will combine well-organised space with modern use of natural materials and sensuous planting with gorgeous colours and textures. As well as being passionate about design, I'm fascinated by the ways in which green spaces contribute to our well-being - a garden can be a wonderful place to recuperate after illness or to just unwind, giving us the opportunity to connect with the rhythms and patterns of nature. Before setting up my own design practice I worked in Landscape Architecture private practice and in a local authority setting, including working on the £6m restoration of Sheffield Botanical Gardens. For the past two years I have helped to create award-winning show gardens at Chelsea Flower Show - 'The garden that kids really want' in 2008 and 'The Living Street' in 2009.
